BREAKING: MINI Coupe concept and unknown Speedster models heading to production!


That's right! Not only is the MINI Coupe Concept heading to production, but a 2nd model, dubbed Speedster, will also be developed.

Parent company BMW officially confirmed today that both models will enter series production and that they are to be built at MINI's Oxford Plant in the UK. The important announcement was made by Dr.Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management, BMW AG, during his two-day visit to the firm's UK operations earlier this week.

Concept Mini Coupe coming to the Frankfurt Auto Show


August 26th is the actual 50th anniversary of the Mini brand. To help celebrate it, they will be showing off the Mini Coupe prototype at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month. Some expect that this concept will feature a John Cooper Works-tuned 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 211hp and 192lb-ft of torque (206lb-ft with overboost). More pics after the break.

Rally Edition Mini Clubman S announced for the U.S.


The Rally Edition Clubman Sis expected to show up here in the states later this year. There will be a limited quantity of 70 units sold. Basically, every mini dealer in the U.S. will receive one (1) model to sale.

Each car will feature a unique plaque, Rally Green mirror caps and side skirts, Midnight Black paint scheme, a matching roof, Mini’s Sport Package, clear lens indicators, xenon headlights, 17-inch black alloy wheels and a Bluetooth kit. Plus, there will be options available, too.

Expect this limited Mini to retail for $32,999 when it arrives around October.

1st ION-based mini desktop with a Blu-ray drive


It looks like the Valore ION 330-DB is first ION-based mini desktop in Japan to be sold with a Blu-ray disc drive.

It also features an Atom 330 (1.6ghz), 4GB of RAM (max and not included), a 2.5” SATA HDD slot (HDD not included), HDMI out, Gigabeat, and 6x USB 2.0 port for just 39,800 Yen (€297). It looks like this will only be available in Japan, too.

Verizon's HP Mini 1151NR announced for May 17th


Verizon Wireless will be selling the HP Mini 1151NR netbook on May 17th for $199.99 - after a $50 mail in rebate with a 2-year mobile broadband contract. For $40 a month you get 250MB of data transfer per month; going over that will costs you an extra 10 cents per MB. But, for $60 you get 5GB a month of data transfer; going over that will cost you an extra 5 cents per MB. If you go overseas, then you can spend an insane $130 a month for 100MB of data transfer with a 25 cent per MB for any extra data transfer.

The specs are: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, two USB 2.0 ports, 802.11b/g, SD slot and Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3. The weight of the netbook is 2.4 pounds and it will feature a 10.1” Flush Glass (1024 x 576) diagonal LED BrightView Infinity display screen.
