2011 Audi A8 tuned by Hofele Design

Hofele Design has readied power kits for both engines that will be available at the new A8's launch. The 4.2-liter V8 petrol gets a jump from 372hp and 445Nm to 400hp and 475 Nm, reducing the 0-100km/h sprint time from 5.7 seconds to 5.3 seconds.

The 4.2-liter V8 TDI diesel is bumped up from 350hp and 800Nm to 395hp and 880Nm, and now covers the 100km/h (62mph) mark in 5.2 seconds instead of the stock model's 5.5 seconds.

Also, fuel consumption remains unchanged over the factory models.

Other mods include:

- adjustable sport suspension electronic module that lowers the car's ride height between 40 and 80mm
- four-pipe exhaust system
- 6-caliper high-performance brakes
- body kit (front and rear bumpers, rocker panels, rear diffuser, new grille and a discreet boot lid spoiler)
- 20- or 22-inch alloy wheels
- 265/40 ZR20 or 265/30 ZR22 high-performance tires respectively
- various interior accessories such as a R8-style sport steering wheel with carbon-fiber inserts

Whats an Audi R8 need? Twin Turbos!

Tuning firm, Hefner, has developed a twin turbo system for the Audi R8! Preliminary results are at 536 hp at the wheels, a 183 hp improvement over the stock V8 model. The car's currently in development and pushes a modest 6 PSI of pressure from the turbos and while running on 92 octane. There are rumors that Hefner is trying to push the R8 to 620 hp, too.

The car Darth Vader would drive?

The ABT Audi R8 V10 dons a similar glossy black finish and produces 600hp, thanks to its new exhaust system and reprogrammed ECU. Also, new wheels, a body kit and some carbon fiber accents help round this dark wonder out. Press Release and more pics after the jump.

ABT Sportsline 2009 – press release CW 35
Ten cylinders. 600 HP. The Abt R8 5.2 FSI

These figures make the hearts of sports car drivers beat faster: 600 HP (441 kW),
acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, top speed of 322 km/h. The car to which
these impressive performance figures belong is the ABT R8 5.2 FSI. Its V10 engine draws
plenty of power from its large 5,204 cubic centimetre capacity – all the more if ABT POWER
gives it an extra boost. 75 extra HP or 55 more kW provides a powerful trust at all speeds as
well as increasing the torque.
The fact that the medium-engine super sports car becomes a winner on any track is not just
due to its excellent performance characteristics, but also the perfectly coordinated bodywork
package. It has been designed by the DTM crew of ABT Sportsline according to the latest
motorsport knowledge, including the use of high-end carbon materials. The focus was above
all on the optimum distribution of weight and a systematic light-weight construction. "The 600
HP is not just intended to exist on paper, but also be available on the road", says Christian
Abt. At the same time the ABT R8 thereby looks extremely dynamic. The front spoiler, side
sills and rear apron outline the bodywork and give it a more powerful presence even when at
a standstill. They form one unit with the distinctive rear wing and the typical ABT 4-pipe
exhaust system.

The super sports car is presented on BR-type 20-inch wheels which suit the classic design.
The ABT R8 5.2 FSI is a design milestone and is of course very, very fast. This is because
the 600 ABT horsepower contain, what the dynamic design of the car promises.
